I love photographing local business owners and capturing what they’re truly passionate about! There’s something so special about photographing the person behind a brand and the details that make their work unique. This particular session felt extra special because it was for my own hairstylist, Renee!
I’ve been going to Renee for years, and she is seriously amazing! She’s the person I trust with my hair not just for the everyday, but also for all the big moments in life - she even did my hair for my wedding and my sister’s wedding! Beyond being incredibly talented at what she does, she’s also one of those people who has the best energy. You can tell how much she truly cares about every client who sits in her chair. I always leave my hair appointments feeling refreshed, uplifted, and full of positive energy!
For her branding photography session, we kept everything very clean and simple. We photographed it right inside her salon suite and also used a plain white backdrop for some photos so the focus stayed exactly where it should be - Renee, her personality, her work, and her products!
Renee has created her own line of hair products, Tanjico, including shampoo and conditioner. It’s been so lovely going to her for my hair for years now, so being able to photograph the products and create images she can use for her website and marketing felt really full circle!
Sometimes the most simple setups end up creating the most versatile images. These types of photos work perfectly across websites, social media, and marketing materials because they feel modern, polished, and timeless. She can add text to the photos to use in marketing, or keep them as they are - there are so many great uses for them!
We also spent some time capturing product and detail photos. Product imagery can make such a big difference when it comes to how professional and cohesive a brand looks online. We kept these shots bright and minimal so they would blend seamlessly with the rest of her brand.
Honestly, the whole session felt more like hanging out than working! That is always the best kind of session, and it really is the goal of all of my photo sessions! When you already have a relationship with someone and there’s a lot of trust and comfort there, everything just flows naturally. Those are the moments where the most genuine photos happen!
This is one of the reasons I love branding photography so much. Every business has a story, and every entrepreneur brings their own personality and energy into what they do. My goal during these sessions is always to create images that actually feel like you - not stiff or overly posed, but authentic and aligned with your brand.
